For once, peace existed on Olympus and for the demigods below. It was a pause between family feuds and prophecies. Although it may seem like a long time for the demigods, it was almost certain that for the gods it would be closer to a blink of an eye. The family feuds did not always affect the demigods and for the gods, time meant less, after all, when you were immortal, decades could seem like no more than seconds.
The Goddess of Wisdom was sitting, silently, contemplating how long this peace may last. An owl, her sacred animal sat on the ground, looking sleepy in the warmth. The lack of action needed was not something that was a problem, peace allowed time for the arts to expand and grow, something that Athena encouraged. But conflict was a natural part of the universe and unfortunately it would always come back. Still, as a goddess of warcraft as well, it was something that Athena took an interest in. There were several human conflicts, but often, it seemed as if there was no peace for the human world, there would be conflict for them, even if it only affected a minority.
Still, while peace existed on Olympus and she was not needed, Athena could relax. Maybe soon, she would take leave and visit the mortal world to examine what ideas were circulating, or to view a lecture about history of inventions or war. It was always fascinating to see how people took on different views and to see how accurate they would be. History could often be lost, only remembered by the immortals and some shades. And the further back you travelled, the more of the knowledge was lost. Sometimes, the knowledge was considered to only be myths instead of the truth.

"Hi Athena!" Nike said to Athena. She was not used to the quietness, no fights, or races! "Athena, I think it is a little quiet up here. I was going down to the mortal world, would you like to join me?"Nike asked Athena. Nike was used to going to earth very easily with her wings, but she never had company. She would love to have Athena as company.

The grey eyed goddess looked up at the sound of a familar voice. As a goddess of warcraft and having fought in wars herself, Athena was no stranger to the goddess of victory; Nike. "Hello, Nike. I trust you are well." Athena said, moving towards the other goddess, dipping her head in greeting. At Nike's question, Athena paused for a second, thinking. It would be good to visit the mortal realm, it was something she had not had the chance to do for a while. "I would be delighted to. Do you have any specific area in mind?" She asked.
There was a good lecture about the Greek Gods in one of the leading Classics Museums, and Athena was interested in going to see it, however, she did know that Nike was keen on sports, something were victory was needed. "I believe that there is a good lecture on the Greek Gods in one of the leading Classics Museums. Would that capture you're interest?" Athena asked, her grey gaze remaining on the figure of the other god.

"Well, I was thinking of going to this race I heard that was happening or we could go to the museum." Nike said to the grey eyed goddess. Hoping Athena would go with her to the race, because she had heard that a famous runner would be there. If they left now they would see him running. She turned around to the goddess, "Did you know that there are going to be people from all over the world watching?" Nike said. She hoped that that would get her attention, she knew Athena like smarter things, maybe she could talk to the other people about something.

As Nike spoke of a race, Athena gave a small smile. She doubted that Nike would want to give up her time when a race was on. And to be honest, it was always best to have the Goddess of Victory on your side. Besides, Athena did not mind races. They could see viewed as a battle and a use of stratergy. One had to judge how far one could push one's body and when one could try to push on ahead. At Nike's hopefully words about different people watching, Athena gave a laugh. "Let's go to the race. I can probably get to see the lecture another time, anyway." The Goddess said, with a smile.
It wasn't too bad, lectures always came back and this would not be the last chance to see it. "We'll need to get changed into mortal clothing." Athena pointed out, clicking her fingers. Her clothes changed into jeans and a casual shirt that would suit the weather of their destination. It was going to be rather mild. Good conditions for running. "Back during ancient Greece, people would have been praying to you before the race." Athena pointed out, remembering how fast the world seemed to have changed.

"Thank you and yes the ancient Greece used to love me when there was a race. But not much people remember me." Nike sighed. There wasn't as much people who knew of her anymore, but she had a good friend, and they were going to a race. She snapped her fingers and her wings disappeared. She thought about putting on the same thing as Athena but, she wore a pair of sneakers, shorts and a running shirt. "Lets go down before the race starts." Nike said to the grey eyed goddess.
She snapped her fingers again so she could get down easily with her wings, but as soon as someone saw her, her wings would disappear. "Don't worry about the wings, if anyone sees us, I won't have wings. How are you getting down?" Nike asked

Athena nodded at Nike's words. People didn't often remember the old gods. Zeus was often remembered, but it was far less than what it could be. "However, you're name inspired a brand of sports wear, Nike." Of course, it was said differently, but still, the inspiration of the old gods still was there. It was some small hope for the old ways and not many of the gods had faded yet. Sometimes the Roman names were remembered more often, but it was still the same gods, still the same beliefs.
"Yes, we should make good time." Athena said, if they managed their journey carefully, they may be able to avoid missing the start. "Don't worry, I'll have no problem. Are we flying there?" she said. It was not hard for Athena to transport herself as an owl, her sacred animal. "Owls are my sacred animals, after all." She said, giving a smile. Owls were interesting animals, and always asociated with wisedom.

"Hmmph(or is it humph), guess what, I'm going to change my running shirt into a running Nike shirt." Nike said to the goddess. She actually thought it was funny that her name was a brand now. Then she snapped her fingers once again and was wearing a bright yellow shirt with the words Nike written across it. "Oh, yes we are flying there. I wish I could have a sacred animal. But if we go now we can sign up for the race. I suspect that you aren't, but I just might." Nike said to the goddess.
Nike knew she was rather fast but she didn't want to race a regular mortal without powers. She knew a way she could turn "off" her powers but it would send out a huge light. Her hair must be a problem to. Her long bright hair wouldn't be the best idea in the mortal world. So she decided to do them up here. "Athena, I recommend shielding your eyes." Nike said to the goddess.
Nike softly said something and a huge light shot out. Larger than usual, but she was also changing her hair.

As Nike changed her top, Athena gave a soft laugh. "How very appropiate. I'm sure the company spent a long time looking for a name that they believed would be right for their company." Athena said. People often put in a lot of research and it wouldn't be often that the research would lead to the gods. It was ncice when it did, the old memories coming back. But often they had to make do with other things. Athena was still remembered in some univercities, which were centres of knowledge and Hermes' Cadeacus showed the medical practician.
Signing up for the race was not something Athena would do. She would give talks, tour guides, attend lectures, but racing was not one of her more common activities. Tactics on the battle field was more within her interest, but peace and the arts captured were preffered, the expansion of knowledge was very important to the human world. Only recently a whole load of Mercian gold was found in England and that was expanding their knowledge of a little known tribe in an almost blank section of history.
Turning her gaze away as Nike transformed her hair, Athena turned to look back when the light had died down. While it would not harm her, she didn't need to have light in her eyes. "Shall we start our journey?" Athena asked, ready to turn her form into that of an owl to travel to view the race. And although it would be interesting to watch the mortals (and possibly Nike) running, there would be a range of people and language, lots that originated from the language of Rome and Greece.

"Yes, we should go now." Nike said pointing to her imaginary watch. She looked around, still no commotion. At least people will be excited at the arena. She loved Olympus but when it got to quiet she knew she had to go to a race. (i watched percy jackson so we should go to the elevator right?) Nike stepped into the elevator. With Athena and she started the descend.
As they got to the bottom of the elevator, Nike asked "Are you ready to fly?" Without an answer, Nike jumped into the air making sure no one saw her and activated her wings. She felt the wind in her hair not knowing what Athena was doing, she did a side way flip and felt so wonderful. Her angel like wings made her look like a bird, but she flew high enough, no one could ever see her.

As they headed to the elevator, Athena prepared herself for the journey to the race. It was not often that she travelled in her owl form, but it was not new to her. The race should proove to be interesting if she looked at it in the correct form. The maths, science and tactic that went into the racing would give her something to look for. Travelling to and from Olympus was a common thing that Athena went through and it seemed natural. It was not something that they had for long, but one could quickly adapt, just how Olympus adapted.
As they reached the bottom and Nike took off, Athena gave a small smile. Sometimes Victory could seem impatient. Shifting her form into that of an owl, Athena followed Nike, the mist making her appear as just a bird that had been stuck inside the building, people moving out of the way as she took to the skies and flew with Nike to the race. They were high in the air and no one could see them and it was easy to see that Nike felt at home in the domain of Zeus.

Nike suddenly turned around to see Athena as an owl. She saw the owl right behind her so beautiful. She felt the hot sun beating down on her wings. She quickly lowered herself down seeing the arena.
"Athena! The arena is right below, lets change at that tree down there!" Nike said to the goddess as she pointed at the tall pine tree. She plunged down like a meteor and landed gently. She quickly snapped her fingers before anyone else could see. She stood in the shade of the tree waiting for Athena.

Diving towards the arena with Nike, feeling the warmth of the sun on her back, Athena landed, her form shimmering back into the human form as she landed. The day was good and the weather suggested that the race would be good. It was not too cold, nor to hot. It would be interesting to see how it would play out. "Still planning on competing?" Athena asked, looking towards Nike, doubting that the winged goddess would have changed her mind.
Looking at her arm, where a watch actualy rested, Athena noted the time. "We've arrived in plenty of time, fortunately." She said, looking back at Nike. The time would not be plenty for mortals, but at the late time they had left it, they had made incredibly good time and it was incredibly likely that Nike would be able to register for any race that was going to happen.

"Yes, I'm competing still, but there is only 5 minutes left to sign up. I'll see you later, and I'm not cheating, but I'm going to win."Nike said to Athena. She knew she would never make it to the arena in time if she didn't fly there.
"Athena?Do you know a fast way to get me to the arena quickly? I can't fly there and I can't run on the grass to well. You are the smart one and I thought you would know." Nike said hopefully.

Athena doubted Nike would loose. Even without the inborn ability to win that the goddess had, the Greek Gods were generally incredibly healthy after all the battles that they had been through. "It will be interesting to see which human comes after you." She commented, as the headed towards the arena. Although they had made it in plenty of time, there was only five minutes to get Nike signed up, and Athena could sense the godess' impatience, Athena's companion did not want to miss this oppotunity.
Hearing NIke's words, Athena nodded. I will think of something." She said, casting her gaze around. Manipulating the mist, she discouraged the mortals from the way of the goddesses, so there was a clear path towards the arena. "This should speed our journey up. If you prefer to walk, I can still run ahead and make sure that you get a place in the race." She said, as they continued to walk along the path that Athena had carved from the crowds.
