"No worry, I will run, this might be the only time to warm up."Nike said to the goddess. But she remembered the last time she ran without her wings. She flew up to the sky, little wings peeking out. But she would take the chance, after all she needed to test if her body could handle without the wings and special abilities.
"I'll see you later!" Nike said to Athena. Then she stopped dead short. She had forgotten to create a fake name. Her mind went blank. Lily? To girly. Tara? What kind of name is that? Diana, even thought it's Artemis' name. Hopefully she won't mind."You need a name, I figured mine would be Diana. What will yours be?" Nike said to the goddess waiting so that no one would hear her.

"Yes, a warm up is generally considered to be a good idea." Athena said, knowing what happened to the human body when it was not prepared for exercise. The body would not cope and the muscles would fail them. As Nike started to run, Athena followed, stopping as Nike did. "I am not entering and they will not ask for the names of those who are going to view the race." Athena said, knowing that even if they did, it would be simple to change the mist so she could get in.
However, Nike would need to give a name as she was participating. "If you need any other names I would suggest Hannah Smith or Emily Jones. Those are common names that should not attract attention, but Diana should be fine." The Goddess of wisdom said.

"Okay then, wish me good luck!" Nike said, sprinting off to the table to sign up. She looked behind at Athena walking behind her, she knew Athena wasn't the running type and she looked as she almost crashed into a man. UGHH! Stay concentrated!
As she ran to the table and told her name, Diana Smith, her age, 27 and how long has she been training, 10 years. Of course none of them were true. Her name was Nike, she was probably like 50,000 years old and has been training for 30,000 years. Athena probably knew the exact date she was born and how long she has been doing something. Sometimes Nike wished she could just be smarter. Then she started to do some stretches.

Leaving Nike to register, Athena moved to aquire a ticket to see the race. It was no problem and then she went to take a seat. The stands were quite full, but the Goddess managed to get a seat with a good view of the race. Briefly, she turned her attention to all around her. Most spoke the local language, she couldn't find many who spoke a different language, but it was interesting to compare it to the main language. There was very little links between the two, but that was to be expected. After all, there was Germanic and Romance as some of the more common, but still many more origins to face.
Sitting straight in her seat, Athena listened to the conversation. This too was not too productive, but there was a group of scientists examing the runners. They were taking measuements and working for a sports company. They were obviously biased in the way they talked, trying to already figure out ways that they would turn certain results in their favour, but still, they were making sense and there were only a few flaws in the basic ideas. That was a positive. Maybe she would speak to them if the race did not start soon.

Nike waved to Athena and saw that she was near a bunch of scientist. She would be a great help to them, if they ever speak to each other. She looked around and saw the racers getting ready. She ran over to them in a slow pace. She heard one of them whisper how slow she was. She was so angry, she knew they wouldn't win. But just to be sure she put a small something (idk what) around them making them slower than usual. Nike could be cruel when she wanted to.
"GET READY, GET SET, GO!" The referee yelled. We all shot off instantly, of course except those slow pokes back there. Nike started slowly but then she felt her desire of victory. If she lost, she would drown herself to tear. She bolted like Zeus' lightning bolt. She almost reached the finish line but slowed down to a slow pace, so no one would notice. When she saw the runners catching up, she bolted to the finish line.

Watching the race, Athena could easily see Nike's different style of running compared to the others. Nike went at a slightly slow pace, before sprinting, slowing down for the last leg of the race and then once again sprinting. The other runners went at a completely different pace, most starting off ast, trying to get a good lead, before slowing down to conserve their energy before sprinting for the last section. A few did start slower at the start, and those generally came close to having a shorter time. The scientists were thrown into a state of confusion, they had not expected this result. They were going to now watch more races. It would give them better results. It was a step forward for them.
Getting up, Athena moved towards Nike, getting easily onto the track, no one stopping her. "That was well done, you have managed to confuse some scientists, however they will now make a study in more depth and their results are likely to be better and more sucseful." She informed the goddess of victory. "Your style of running was rather different from some of the humans. I would not be suprised if they try and test it out themselves." The grey eyes Goddess added.

"Then I might just have to do it modernly, the old way shall never be revealed, or else a new age will start and so on." Nike said hoping she wouldn't get corrected. Her racing style was often different and unpredictable. She had just tried her "Old way" to get faster. Now she knew she had to use the "Modern Race" way. She would fit in more and that way was also pretty fast.
"Why didn't anyone stop you from coming here?" Nike asked Athena. Athena just walked to her with no one stopping her! No one told her that the track was off limits. She was just amazed.

"The ages shall always change. progress is what the humans aim for. While it has brought chaos to some, it also strengthens others. Some day, people will move to a new age annd that, no doubt, will be influenced slightly by the gods." Athena said, looking at Nike, who had easily beaten the humans and did not seem out of breath. It was one of the many advantages of being a god, and no one thought strangely of it. Some people, too, could run races and feel fine.
At Nike's question, Athena gave a laugh. "The mist is a powerful thing. They just think that I am your trainer or a scientist, monitering your progress." She said. Manipulating the mist was one of the most useful things and Athena often used it to help her in some situations, or to help heroes in other situations. However, some heroes did know how to manipulate the mist, which was certainly useful to them at times. "Do you ever manipulate the mist?" Athena asked, interested. Some Gods prefered not to, instead letting the mist run its buisness on mortal eyes.
