The lake was such a peaceful place. The water seemed undisturbed, save for a few small ripples present here and there. A lone girl sat down by the lakeside, her legs half-submerged in the cool refreshing water. Ginger had a Crossword puzzle book on her lap and a pencil on her hand. She had a look of concentration on her face, with her eyebrows scrunched up together and her lips in a tight frown. It was only when she wrote the last word into the puzzle that she relaxed, bringing her eyes up to look at the scenery before her. Abby smiled, soothed by the sight, before bringing her attention back to the crossword book. She flipped it, realizing that she had more than fifty crosswords to go until she finished the entire book. It was actually her second book, since the first one got drenched by some heavy rain a while back. With a sigh, she started to read the next crosswords first clue.
With her mind focused on the puzzle, the redhead gave a start when she heard a snapping of a twig behind her. She tried to jump into a standing position at the sudden noise, thinking it was a monster of some sort. What she realized too late was that her legs were dangling underwater. So instead of getting up on her two feet on land, the daughter of Poseidon practically jumped in the water. Luckily the lake wasn't too deep around its edges, but Abby was still submerged in the water from the waist down. Mentally berating herself for her stupidity, she turned to the source of the sound that caused her to end up like this. She forced a smile.
Oh well... She thought At least I can control when I get wet and when I don't... Although this was true, Ginger had relaxed the force that kept her dry so as to feel the waters cool temperature on her legs. So, she was indeed still soaked. Hopefully whoever it was was someone that she knew and someone that was nice... If not she could always ignore them...

Being new to the place, Scott spent a large amount of his time investigating the area, and looking out for signs that the Hermes kids had pulled pranks and then solving them as quickly as possible. So far, he was loving it, apart from the fact that he was confined. Never before had Scott not been allowed to go outside an area. Even when he had lived with his father, Scott had been allowed to go all over London, as long as he had the company of an adult. Then there was the whole thing fo staying in doors. It had nearly been a decade since he had slept inside. He did not like inside. It was even more restricting.
So, Scott had been exploring the surrondings, hoping that John would be okay without his company. Besides, Scott was atteacting a bit of trouble from the Hermes kids. Having solved a few cases, they didn't really like him. Spoiling their fun and such. So in general he had to keep both eyes open to avoid getting one of the Hermes kids playing a prank on him. It also meant that he was worried about what would happen if they decided to take it out on John. But that was what Scott had a sword for. They weren't monsters, but a duel should help them to realise that there was going to be more order coming to the camp, instead of chaos.
As the teenager reached the lake, his light blue eyes spotted Ginger. She had been there when he had arrived at camp, but he hadn't seen her since. Pausing, he walked forward. But then he ahd the problem of how to announce himself. Bending down, he picked up a stick and snapped it. That was a good way of getting attention, right? Seeing Ginger jump and end up in the water, Scott guessed not. "Sorry." He appologised, dropping the stick. "I wasn't sure what was the correct protocol of showing that I was approaching." He commented.
As he regarded Ginger, he wondered if she would be able to allow him to go outside the camp limits. Everyone regarded it as a bad idea and actually enjoyed staying inside, safe from the monsters, apart from the cleaning staff. But from what he heard, they were easy ti destroy. Looking at Ginger, Scott saw the forced smile and decided that now would probably not be the best of times to bring that up. "Would you rather I left you alone?" He checked, wondering how annoyed Ginger might be.

Why the heck do I always end up in the water... She thought, climbing back up onto the rock she had been sitting on only moment before. She supposed it wasn't that bad. So of the other kids fell in the water and ended up being fine. And she was a Daughter of Poseidon for pete's sakes! She could survive a little dip in the water.
"Nah, that's alright." She said, smiling as she shook a few drops of water off of the crossword book, "I don't mine the water that much. Now, if I had been an Aphrodite kid? You would've been in a bit of trouble." She finished, chuckling a bit.
She looked at him. He was new at Camp, but had been a pretty big help from what Caly had told her. He had managed to figure out which Hermes kid was causing trouble, tell Caly and had managed to survive. Multiple times. Now that, took guts. Not many people liked doing that because they knew Hermes cabin would get revenge, whether in Capture the Flag or just by doing something in your day to day activity. But Scott seemed to have no problem sloving them and reporting them. It was almost as if he was made to be a sleuth. Solving crimes and then reporting them in the nick of time.
His friend John was a completely different matter. John was quieter, but always there. Although he did seem to have some qualms about telling Caly everything, he seemed to enjoy tagging along and being Scott's little sidekick. She looked around for a second, strange, John wasn't currently there.
"So what brings you to the lake?" She asked, writing down another answer in the puzzle as she spoke.

Scott kept his distance from Ginger as she climbed back onto the rocks, not sure what the daughter of Poseidon would think of his approach. The teenager had meant no harm, but within his life on the street he had not needed to do much socializing, especially with people his own age and of the opposite gender. So, while he was great at figuring out who had commited a crime, he often struggled with basic communication. Sure, when he was younger is father had taught him some ways of being polite. But that hardly applied to a teenager. Most of those lessons were for children.
As Ginger said that it was fine, Scott relaxed, although it was not visible and he walked forward a few steps, so he was closer to Ginger, so talking would not appear to be strained. He thought that was probably how it went, anyway. It wasn't surpsing that Ginger didn't mind the water. Scott personally kept out of the water unless he needed to bathe and even then, he had been fussy. The Thames was not the place you would head to if you wanted to clean. More often than not, Scott had no reason to go near any large areas of water. "Which one is Aphrodite?" Scott asked, this was one of the ones he didn't know. Then again, he hardly knew any of the gods.
Scott regarded Ginger, briefly, wondering what she was thinking. There were times when the teenager wanted to know what people were thinking. But usually that was beyond him. He hoped, that in the future he would be able to tell that from deductions. But he would need to gain more of an idea of how people thought. He only could figure out how criminals and problem makers thought and he wasn't even completely sure he understood how he did that. The best he could come up was that it was withing the power of crimescenes. To understand more about the human mind, he would need to participate in ordinary things with them. That or read a book and both sounded rather troublesome.
However, when Ginger looked around, Scott guessed she was looking for his half-brother, John. It was possible that Scott actually viewed John as a friend, but he wasn't sure. Scott had never had a friend and from what he had seen, things were problematic when you had one. There was some sort of unspoken code between the two that meant a mistake could leave one with a problem. Still, there had to be something else about friendship, because many people had them and Scott could not tell why. Maybe this was something else to add to his list of things to do with the human mind. Figuring it out and especially the area concerning friendship. From what he had seen, friendship meant that you protected one another, and this could extend to a friend if they had commited a crime.
Pausing at Ginger's question, Scott briefly scanned the area. "Checking for any signs that the Hermes kids have decided to set up a prank or to see if they've managed to catch someone in one. Plus I need to get a better idea of the area. If I know enough about the area I should be able to deduce where they are more likely to strike, and also see if it will change during the seasons." Scott commented. Then he thought for a second. Was it worth adding about his feelings about it being constricting, only having a small area where you had to stay. He didn't know too much about Ginger and while she was nice, it could be information that she could use against him. It was really only with John that Scott confinded anything personal.
